Barang Regional Alliance – Local decision making and Empowered Communities
Our region is both a Local Decision Making (State Government) and an Empowered Communities (Commonwealth Government) region. We are working in a reform process that invests in building a genuine “Pathway to Empowerment” for our community living on Darkinjung country. The Local Decision Making and Empowered Communities movements are about refocusing services and resources towards community to build capability and create more accessible opportunities.
Barang Regional Alliance has been working in partnership with Senior Leaders from NSW Government Agencies under Local Decision Making “LDM” which is an initiative of OCHRE, the NSW Governments community-focused plan for Aboriginal affairs, which is underpinned by the principle of self-determination.
Barang Regional Alliance is made up of six Aboriginal organisations from across the Central Coast: Bara Barang Corporation, Gudjagang Ngara li-dhi Corporation, NAISDA, Ngaimpe Aboriginal corporation – The Glen, Mingaletta Aboriginal Corporation and Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services.
